A little further on is Gatlinburg, the gateway to the magnificent Great Smokey Mountains National Park, with over 400 speciality shops; boutiques; galleries; stores; in excess of 100 restaurants; 5 malls; Ober Gatlinburg – a park & ski area with a large mall with indoor amusements; a skating rink; snack bars; restaurants & stores. There is also an alpine slide & a chairlift to the top of Mount Harrison with the most fabulous scenic views over the Smokey Mountains.
Close by is also Townsend, the quintessential Appalachian town, popular for outdoor enthusiasts and situated in the beautiful Tuckaleechee Cove surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Townsend is renowned for its charming shops, art galleries, antique shops, quirky cafes, and excellent restaurants.
Knoxville, just a drive away, is home to more than 20 museums, 600 restaurants, 7 historic houses, the Urban Wilderness Project covering over 1,000 acres of woodlands, and the cultural downtown heart of the city – the Market Square District offering a hive of activities including live entertainers.

Surrounded by mountains & rolling hills, Douglas Lake, 43.1 miles long, covering 30,400 acres, a 555 miles shoreline & a maximum depth of 140 feet, was created in 1943 by the impounding of the French Broad River. The Nolichucky and Pigeon Rivers are the main tributaries feeding the lake. The lake is extremely picturesque with numerous small inlet creeks,17 islands, 6 bridges, & is served by 10 marinas, 24 boat ramps, and 6 bridges. Largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, & catfish are the most popular game fish for Douglas Lake anglers. Sauger, walleye, & white bass also provide excellent fishing opportunities when they make their late-winter spawning runs to the headwaters. National Fishing & Boating Week occur each year during early June. The lake water level can fluctuate especially during the winter months due to HEP demand (highest in January) controlled by the Tennessee Valley Authority.

Getting here is easy and once you’re here you won’t want to leave!

Your exclusive lakeside facilities at the Lake House are accessed just a few feet from the house via a private stairway. These include a large seating area set in a large gravel area adjacent to a 256 square feet deck overlooking the lake. Another stairway leads from the deck down to the lake and our private boat dock with a 24ft x 4ft floating boat dock. The stairways have been fitted with an automatic lighting system which has also been installed on the lakeside deck creating a perfect setting for relaxing under the stars.
A short gravel pathway through the trees is located just a few yards from the house providing an alternative route to the lakeside deck and the boat dock.
A community boat ramp located in the inlet adjacent to the house is available free of charge for guests who bring their own boat. A pathway from the driveway leads to a small boat dock for exclusive use by guests who are kayak/canoe enthusiasts.
Boats and equipment can be rented from marinas on Douglas Lake. These include large Pontoon Boats ideal for families, various towables including Waverunners, Sea Doos, and Jet Skis.
Douglas Lake is a renowned fishing destination for anglers, and many large fish have been caught by guests casting off the boat deck.
The lake water level can fluctuate during the winter months especially in January due to high HEP demand. It is controlled by the Tennessee Valley.

International flights from worldwide locations including Europe, South America, the Caribbean, Canada, China, Japan, Africa, and the Far East are available to Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, and internal fights go into McGhee Tyson Airport at Knoxville. Alternatively there are excellent road services using the Interstate and County road systems.
The nearest airport is McGhee Tyson Airport in Knoxville.
For arrivals by air into either Atlanta or Knoxville, car rental services are available at the airports.

The house rules are as follows:-
- STRICTLY NO SMOKING inside the home or on the decks.
- No diving permitted from boat deck or dock for safety reasons.
- Please do not use any glassware at the lakeside deck, seating area, & boat dock to avoid unnecessary accidents – please only use the non-breakable items supplied and available in the kitchen.
- Please clean the grill in the outdoor kitchen after use.
- Please clean the BBQ & Smoker after use.
- Please leave your shoes in the shoe racks before entering the house as the grit on them will ruin the hardwood floors and dirty the new light colored carpets.
- NO PETS ALLOWED.
- The owner reserves the right to charge an additional cleaning fee in the event the house is left in an unacceptable condition.
- Please do not leave any food or garbage bags outside as this is BEAR COUNTRY. Please take all garbage bags to the enclosed fenced garbage area provided on the right side of the road just prior to leaving Douglas Lake Resort.
- Please note fireworks are STRICTLY PROHIBITED within Douglas Lake Resort due to risks of fires.
Check-in time is 16:00 and Check-out time is 10:00.
Parties/Events are allowed and children are welcome. College parties are not allowed
100% refund less an administration charge of $250 will be made for cancellations advised by email received & acknowledged more than 60 days before check-in date.
50% refund will be made for cancellations advised by email received & acknowledged more than 40 days made by email before check-in date.
Any refunds applicable will be made within 7 days of receipt of payment instructions.
